Police officers Roger Mortis (Treat Williams) and Doug Bigelow (Joe Piscopo) visit Dante Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company they suspect of some shady maneuvers. They soon uncover a high-tech “resurrection room” that recycles criminals (and makes them virtually indestructible). Stock market millionaire Chris Thorne (Chevy Chase) and investment lawyer Diane Lightson (Demi Moore) are headed to Atlantic City when they take the wrong exit off the New Jersey Turnpike. A local cop (John Candy) stops them for speeding in a curious town, where they’re brought before 106-year-old Judge Alvin Valkenheiser (Dan Aykroyd). Put down that bacon lettuce and bread cause this week we have Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. It even got a DLIP score of 7.1990740740740333333333333333333

From the moment it begins, this kitschy horror movie boasts the makings of a cult hit — and that it has become, even though it’s decidedly low-budget and filled to brim with camp. Director John de Bello manages to squeeze out the laughs from a highly improbable premise: Tomatoes become public enemy No. 1 when they turn murderous, preying on humans. It’s up to Mason Dixon (David Wilson) and his special team to stomp them out for good.
